Faith-based concerts, festivals and events.
We are privileged to do what we do at LMG Concerts (LMG stands for Lowell MacGregor Group or Love My God, depending on who you ask). We get to put on Christian concerts and festivals all over the United States and Canada, and sit back and watch how God works. He uses the artists we bring to draw men, women and children into His presence through worship. He changes hearts, restores relationships, reveals His grace, convicts people of sin and draws people to Himself. He allows us to take our eyes off ourselves and fix them on Him for our betterment and His glory.
How do we know God does all these things? You’ve told us. Not only that, but we’ve experienced it ourselves. That’s why we say we are privileged to do what we do. We experience God’s great grace, majesty, power and presence through His messengers as they perform.
Spirit Fest
Spirit Fest – a dream of Lowell MacGregor made reality
Lowell MacGregor, a concert & festival producer since the 1980s, had a vision. His vision involved a massive one-day, family-friendly festival featuring top Christian artists on two stages, playing music all day long. Beyond that, Lowell MacGregor’s vision required that the festival not be family friendly in name only, but in actuality. The event needed to be accessible for families on a budget. It needed to have entertainment beyond what was on stage, to give kids of all ages something fun to do.
The vision came to fruition in Sunday, November 13, 2011 (Veteran’s Day weekend) as Lowell MacGregor and his company, LMG Concerts, partnered with Spirit 105.9 in Austin, Texas to put on the inaugural Spirit Fest at Dell Diamond. The largest family friendly festival that Austin had seen at that time, Spirit Fest made a big splash in the marketplace and shattered expectations with a lineup that included: Third Day, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Tenth Avenue North, Peter Furler, Trevor Morgan, and more. Over 11,000 people attended the first year, making headlines throughout the community and Christian music industry.
Besides an all-star lineup, Lowell MacGregor’s vision for a complete festival that was realized in 2011 featured ground-breaking elements such as:
- Giving local bands the opportunity to play at the festival via a Facebook contest in which bands could submit videos for fans to vote on. The most popular bands got a slot to play on the local band stage
- Free general admission tickets for kids 16 and under, with purchase of an adult ticket
- Half price tickets for kids in reserved seating, with purchase of an adult ticket
- Group discounts for 10 or more, and deeper discounts for super groups of 30 or more with 2 free tickets for the group organizer
- Honoring Veterans and military with discounts for service members and free tickets free tickets for Gold Star families and Wounded Warriors
- Family Fun Zone with carnival rides and bungee toys, family activities, petting zoo, face painters and more. All these elements were (and continue to be) free with festival admission. No additional charges for any of it.
- Opening ceremony honoring the military including a color guard, welcome and opening prayer by a recognized Colonel and dove release
Many of these items were original concepts developed by Lowell MacGregor that have since become standard on festivals produced by LMG Concerts.
Following 2011, Lowell MacGregor’s Spirit Fest expanded, with 2012 seeing the festival come to Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi (8500 in attendance) and return to Dell Diamond (14,000 in attendance). 2013 included those two cities and a stop in Dallas at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
2014 yielded the biggest lineup and largest attendance yet. 15,000 were in attendance to see Chris Tomlin, MercyMe, Jeremy Camp, Building 429, Jamie Grace, Kutless and more at Dell Diamond on Sunday, November 23rd.
With 2015 underway, Spirit Fest is expanding to even more cities. Be on the lookout for a Spirit Fest in a city near you! To stay up to date, follow LMG Concerts on Facebook or check LMGConcerts.com for updates.
